About Us
The ESA Story
European Studies Association was founded by Dr. Tom Blair in 1978 as a nonprofit association dedicated to offering quality study abroad programs which are inclusive and reasonably priced. Dr. Blair served many years as the Chair of the World Languages Department at City College of San Francisco. In its 46-year history, ESA has offered programs to France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Holland, Belgium and England.

Our annual July Paris program is known for offering a rich choice of extracurricular activities, exceptionally located student housing, and quality personal service. While other companies spread themselves across many locations and seek to maximize group size, we are a boutique operation that typically serves about 100 participants. We focus on Paris, which is how we keep costs low. Our excursions are hand-picked and led by ESA staff who will be your tour guides and companions as you discover the splendor of the City of Light.

ESA also offers shorter, cultural tours on occasion such as our 2025 May Ireland Tour. As with our Paris program, participants can expect curated itineraries and a personally led trip full of discoveries and wonder.
