SUMMER STUDY IN PARIS

ESA ACTIVITIES
In addition to our French language classes and civilization program, ESA offers the richest, most varied program of activities of any university program, all included in our basic program fee:
Evening cultural activities.  Of course, what exactly we will be doing depends on what is available, but usually we are able to offer your choice of:
    • an evening at the opera
    • a ballet (usually in the Palais Garnier of Phantom of the Opera fame)
    • a classical concert, perhaps in the stunning medieval Sainte Chapelle
    • a modern French play (Ionesco’s La cantatrice chauve is a definite possibility.)
    • a classical French play, maybe a comedy by Molière at the Comédie Française, the theater he founded over 300 years ago
Two of these activities are included in your program fee.  If space is available you may, of course, purchase additional tickets.

Guided visits in Paris including the Louvre, Musée d’Orsay, Musée Rodin, les Invalides and Napoléon’s tomb, and much more!

A weekend in  Alsace.  Weekend excursion to the historic and picturesque region of Alsace and Lorraine with two nights in the charming city of Colmar, staying at a comfortable three star hotel with a welcome dinner and breakfast each day. Stops include a wine tasting and walk through the walled village of Riquewihr, a visit to an outlet to see the beautiful fabric produced in Alsace, several towns on the geranium-decorated Wine Route, and a stop in the medieval town of Eguisheim. In Colmar we take time to see the world famous Issenheim Altar and enjoy a guided walk through the charming streets of this medieval city, finishing in the area called "little Venice." On the return to Paris, we stop in Nancy, capital of Lorraine, to see its Art Nouveau Museum.

    Weekend Excursions.
Normandy: a one-day visit to Giverny (Claude Monet’s home), Rouen
    Fontainebleau and Vaux-le-Vicomte
